Blimey, its nearly two years since I wrote my last journal! Well, since then I've left art school, and I'm in my second year of uni - doing a fine art degree (of course). I'm down on the south coast, in Chichester, which is very handy as I'm nice and close to home. Rather handy that, seeing as this time last year I was back home every weekend due to both parents being injured/ill. But they're both fine (pretty much) now, so its not so important.

Last year I learnt a bit....this year has been slightly more constructive. I learnt to weld (spot, arc, gas and braise) and did some pretty cool sculptural work with that (it was so much fun - this little girly girl wandering around with a 5 foot sculpture under her arm, welding mask and grease smeared across her face...I got some funny looks!). That was all fun, till my tutor gave me a ridiculously low mark for it (I'm not just being bitter, my other tutor and fellow students were rather horrified at what I got)....so now I'm doing textile stuff. At the moment I'm making intricate little embroideries of girlies from porn mags!! Its rather fun. Hopefully I'm planning to make them more sculptural (Cathy De Monchaux-esk....)

I was in an exhibition in Southsea in November, which was really exciting - I exhibited my steel figure, and it looked awesome in the exhibition space (and it was one of two scuptures in the whole expo so it really stood out!) Sadly no one wanted to buy it (the rather high pricetag may have had something to do with that) but it was so fun nothertheless. And I'm in another in may! woop!!

I guess I really aught to decide/find my area...be more specific instead of dappling with everything. I guess I'm more of a sculptor - I like making stuff with my hands, and being able to feel it and have lots of different perspectives on it. I duno, I still feel so nieve about it all sometimes, especially when I think I know what I want to do, and my tutors tell me its dumb (yep, they suck)

But hey, bring on this semester! Maybe everything will fall into place
